General NewsTopeka, Kansas (February 10, 2010) – Baeg Tobar announced that “The Unmade Man” by Daniel Tyler Gooden is now available for Amazon's Kindle e-book reader through the Kindle store.
“Having built Baeg Tobar online, it’s only natural that one of our first publishing avenues would be the Kindle format. Considering that Amazon sold more e-books on Christmas than physical books, I think we made the right choice. As the Kindle continues to grow in popularity we will be right there with new novels and short story collections,” said Daniel Tyler Gooden, Baeg Tobar’s Content Editor.
For Boruin, the past is simply dark. There is a ribbon of runes that turns across his body. He cannot read them, but they hold strange magics, too dangerous to use unknown. There is nothing in his mind before waking on the Nefazo Trade Highway thirty years past. The woman standing above him on the deserted road offers her own mysteries. Wraethe is moon-driven, awake under Diun’s shine and dead to the world during the day. Her temper and lust for blood often places her near the edge of chaos and mindless rage. Though a killer by trade, there is still heat in Wraethe's heart, no matter how deeply hidden. A Mana’Olai assassin and short grave robber complete the small band that works across the jungle borders of Nefazo. Sometime thieves, bodyguards, strong-arms, diplomats, the crew honors what contracts pay. Boruin’s band has done well–until they meet the child. The acquisition of the boy has turned Boruin back to his long unanswered questions. The quiet boy’s eyes are sharp, seeing the shifting tattoos where others see nothing. His touch turns them down Boruin’s arms and brings the spells to life. Where is this boy from? Who contracted Boruin to bring him out of the deep jungle? Why does he seem to know so much about that which is hidden? All other obligations are disregarded as Boruin turns back to his past. Contracts are broken, friendships are pulled apart, and lives are lost to discover the man that was once unmade.
“The Unmade Man” is a prequel of sorts to “The Torn God” by Scott Colby and Daniel Tyler Gooden, a web comic available on www.baegtobar.com that tells the continuing story of Boruin and his crew as they face a new foe that threatens to destroy Baeg Tobar.
”Both Daniel [Gooden] and 'The Unmade Man' have been with the project from the very beginning. I can’t think of any other piece of work that better represents the Baeg Tobar project than this novel and I am extremely pleased to have this available in full on the Kindle,” said Jeremy D. Mohler, Owner and Art Director.

General NewsTopeka, Kansas (January 8, 2010) – Baeg Tobar, premiere purveyor of online fantasy, announced that it will begin publishing flash fiction beginning on January 8, 2010.
“Our novels and web comics are great for the epic story, but there is something immediate and real about a well-told flash fiction piece. My hope is that through these tiny tales a strong sense of the subtler values and struggles of Baeg Tobar’s diverse peoples will emerge,” said Daniel Tyler Gooden, Baeg Tobar’s Content Editor.
The first flash fiction augments the tale told by William Ward's “A Gift of Life,” Baeg Tobar's new weekly web comic featuring a warrior priest on the hunt for a terrible demon. Stories expand upon the world and its characters, explaining topics specific to “A Gift of Life” and elaborating upon its mythology. None of these stories will be longer than one thousand words.
”A lot of our content is designed to elaborate on certain elements of the Baeg Tobar world – certain people, places, or events, all specific to our main storyline. What we are trying to do with the flash fiction is to not only expand upon the main storyline, but upon the world itself. Rather, we’re trying to give small glimpses into the everyday life of Baeg Tobar,” explained Jeremy D. Mohler, Owner and Art Director.

General NewsI know that things over here have been pretty quiet over the last few weeks, but we've been working on quite a few different projects and things that we needed to get done. Some of those include a pitch for our first comic aimed directly at print, which will feature the life and times of the Emperor Pileaus. We've also been developing another bit of content that we'll be using to help flesh out the world called "Flash Fiction," which will just be short, rough excerpts from the world. We've also been working on putting The Unmade Man together as a PDF novel and also preparing it for the Kindle, several things I hope to have announcements about in the coming weeks.
In order to give us a little bit of wiggle room to work on all this material, we are going to be posting a short story/webcomic written by William Ward and illustrated by Shannon Potratz. This is a really beautiful, fun little piece that I think you folks will enjoy. It'll be posting every Monday until the story is told in full. We'll continue posting chapters of The Unmade Man as well as little bits of extra content here and there.
You'll also find that the website is going through some changes as we adapt it a bit to better feature the material we have and to make it easier to navigate. If you have any suggestions in this regard, please don't hesitate to let us know on the forums!
Thanks for being patient and I hope you'll enjoy our new stuff!

General NewsYou might have noticed that we've been a little behind on updates lately. Please bear with us - this thing is a constantly changing beast and we've had to make some adjustments to our current plans. It will be worth the wait, however, and I hope to have some interesting stuff for everybody in the not so distant future.
As it stands, we have a short comic story that we are going to start running either this week or at the latest, next week. We think you'll enjoy it and it will give a fun glimpse at the world at large. I'll have more updates for you soon!

General NewsOne of the most important elements of the entire project is the Baeg Tobar Resource Guide. The Resource Guide is basically the encyclopedia of the entire world. Within the Resource Guide you will find all the details and elements of the world that you may be wondering about. From details of the prevelant countries in the world of Baeg Tobar to the development information regarding things such as the Pilean airship Brailee.
Every other week (at least for the time being) we will be updating the Resource Guide with new material that directly corralates to our main webcomic, The Torn God. So as we move through the story in the comic and come across new things in the world (such as the airship Brailee) we'll release corresponding Resource Guide articles. We hope, by doing this, that you'll get a richer and fuller experience as you explore the world of Baeg Tobar.

General NewsThe Torn God is the primary storyline for Baeg Tobar. It will be the main story that moves through the present of the world. We felt that a webcomic, something both visual and written, would really begin to unveil the world in such a way that people can really get to know the world. As we release pages, we'll be releasing Resource Guide articles that correspond with new things we encounter in the webcomic. For instance, Sarcillian Tree's show up in first set of pages that we release. If interested, you can find more information about the Sarcillian Tree in the Resource Guide. As we release more pages, we'll unveil more general information about the world as well.
In addition, we'll be releasing short stories that correspond with characters and events in The Torn God as well. These will, additionally, help flesh out the world in greater detail, plus give our readers some insight into the characters and events of the world.
The Torn God will release one page per week every Monday. It is written by Scott Colby and Daniel Tyler Gooden. Pencils by Alan Gallo. Colors and Letters by me (Jeremy D. Mohler).
Synopsis
Emperor Pileaus is dead. Lesser nations battle to improve their standing in the new pecking order as the Empire struggles to right itself under the hand of an inexperienced regent. Freed from its decades old fear of the Emperor’s stern hand, a continent wracked by war and expansion tilts even further toward chaos. Those familiar with the otherworldly source of this new discord are few and silent.
And yet, despite the strife, business is still business, and the business of war booms loudly as ever for experienced mercenaries like Boruin and his crew. The Empire’s border with Thila is where the money is–but it’s also the focal point of the continent’s most devious machinations, as Boruin discovers when he’s incorrectly charged with the murder of Emperor Pileaus. Luckily for Boruin, the runes on his arm and the library in his head make him more than just some common merc...
We're looking forward to really getting into this storyline! In my opinion, this is going to be a very, very good story.

General NewsOver the years, we've had many projects come and go. At one time, we actually had five novels in production all at once telling various tales of Baeg Tobar and being posted on one of our site incarnations. The Unmade Man, by Daniel Tyler Gooden, is our first actual novel. Daniel has been working on this book since nearly the beginning of Baeg Tobar, so it has gone through a lot of changes, tweaks, and edits over the years (and I'm not joking when I say years). As of right now, this novel is complete, has been fully edited, and will have a chapter posted every other week, alternating with a short story, relevant to the current issues in The Torn God.
When we were discussing the direction of the world and what we wanted to do with the launch of the new site, we decided that we wanted to try to tie all our content together in some way. We felt that the content that we were releasing should all be tied together in such a way that it would give our readers a sense of consistency. Hence, The Unmade Man has become a prelude to our webcomic, The Torn God. You don't have to read one or the other to enjoy them, but reading them both will give you insight into the other. So we would encourage you to read them both.
The Unmade Man will feature a piece of artwork by Scott Godlewski and myself (Jeremy D. Mohler) every other week.

General NewsAllow me to welcome you all to the launch of The World of Baeg Tobar. This project has been a labor of love for myself and a number of other dedicated creators for, literally, years now. We've gone through a variety of incarnations over the years, some better than others, but always with the same goal in mind - to create a setting, vast in scope and rich in content. I have always felt strongly about this project and been proud of the material that we have developed over the years, but the current material, I believe, is by far the strongest and best executed that we've ever done. I can't even put into words how excited I am about the material we've got lined up for release right now.
Without the help of numerous creators, writers, and artists, this project would not have been possible and you wouldn't have the opportunity to read our stories. But, I have to send out a special thanks to Scott Colby and Daniel Tyler Gooden. These guys are the backbone of this project and have contributed hundreds of hours to creating, concepting, editing, writing, and corresponding with me on this project. Thanks guys! Your hard work has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated!
I should also thank Matt Jacobs. It's Matt's technical genious that has made this site possible. He's created some pretty amazing stuff to use for the site and we'll be releasing that over the next months and hopefully years.
All that having been said, I would also like to take a moment to say that this is an organic kind of thing. While the various stories are set and we have a storyline that we are following, much of what we are doing is open to change. In particular, this website. We are launching now and we will be updating content regularly (you can find out more in the What is BT? section about our update schedule), but the site will most likely be going through a variety of changes as we adjust and try to find the best and clearest way to get our content out to you. If you notice anything that seems off to you or you have a suggestion for making the actual site better, please go over to the contact page or the forums and leave me a note so we can have the best site possible. And please understand that we're constantly updating and tweaking this site, so if it seems like something isn't working quite right, please be patient with us as we sort it out.
I would also like to encourage you all to hop over to the forums - one of the main things we wanted to do with this project was to create an active community built around the content. Our creators (and myself) spend a lot of time on the forums, so if you have something to say or have a question, that's the place to ask! I'm sure you'll get a quick response.
Anyway, welcome to the new site and if you are new to the project, we hope you find something that you'll enjoy!

General NewsThe site tells the story of Baeg Tobar, a preindustrial fantasy world where music is magic. The land's young nations seem poised to pull themselves out of the primordial expansionist ooze to become lasting institutions, but a mysterious threat from a parallel realm of immortals threatens to end it all.
"I'm very excited about the launch of this project,” explained Jeremy Mohler, owner and Art Director of Baeg Tobar. “We have a huge amount of content we are planning to release and what I believe is a unique and interesting way of publishing that content. It is my hope that people will enjoy not only the complex stories but the amount of detail that we're including to really flesh out the world."
“The Torn God,” a web comic written by Daniel Tyler Gooden and Scott Colby, illustrated by Alan Gallo, and colored by Jeremy Mohler, tells the story of Boruin, a mercenary with a mysterious past who suddenly finds himself the focal point of the battle between realms. Pages one through three of “The Torn God” will be available at launch. Subsequent half-pages will be published every Monday.
Readers can learn more about Boruin and his cohorts in “The Unmade Man,” a novel written by Daniel Tyler Gooden and illustrated by Scott Godlewski. Chapter 1 of “The Unmade Man” will be available at launch. Subsequent chapters will be published every other Friday beginning on October 16.
Launch content also includes eleven fully illustrated Resource Guide articles providing encyclopedic information about the people, places, and things that appear in “The Torn God.” A new article will be published every other Wednesday beginning on October 7.
“‘The Torn God,’ as our master storyline, will rip across Baeg Tobar ricocheting off every important nation, race and detail on the book,” said Content Editor Daniel Tyler Gooden. “What’s extra special is the wealth of deeper stories that will unroll along side of ‘The Torn God’ to expand in detail what the comic touched. Short stories, flash fiction, sequentials, guide entries, table-top games, online games, all coupled with fantastic artwork, will allow the readers to delve as shallow or deep into Baeg Tobar as they may wish. I hope they go deep. Baeg Tobar is astounding down here in its depths.”
